 DIRECTIONS TO OUR MEETINGS

If coming from the peninsula, take I-64 across the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, follow I-64 to I-264 East.  Follow I-264 to the Witchduck Road
exit; after exiting, turn left onto Witchduck Road.  About ¼ to ½ mile is Ruritan Drive (fire station light is there).  Turn left on Ruritan, go to the end of the street, the building is on the left.

                    CHILDREN'S CORNER

Nellie Leonardson will not be able to run the children's corner due to an illness, I'm sorry to report.  Her surgery is scheduled for the 26th of April.  In her place, Merrie Jo Milner  will work with the children.

                             When Last We Met

On an afternoon of heavy rain, nineteen members  and four children were present.  After setup by Sue Arith and Sandy  MacGregor, who also brought the liquid refreshments, the meeting was opened at  5:00 p.m. by
President Bentley Anderson and maestro Ted Johnson, who led us in  Du Gamla, Du Fria, America, and the table grace,  I Jesu namn, after which we went till  bords for a seafood dinner, including delicious varities of salmon, anchovies, and tuna with home-baked bread, baked potato and other delicacies and excellent desserts. Kjerstin Bertilrud contributed an awesome  variety, but all who contributed are recipients of gratitude.

Following the seconds and desserts, Bentley  led us with Ted Johnson's accompaniment in singing a Happy Birthsday in Swedish  (Ja må hon leva) and English to the absent Barbara  Storassli, ailing at home with the flu but able to hear on husband  Olaf's  cell phone the congratulations from the club.  Joseph Milner's friend and  guest, Coby Cowgill also had a Happy Birthday.

For the Svenska Quiz, Margit and Hans Thunander had prepared twenty questions appropiate for those not born in Sverige.  Two teams were formed, the Blue (Sandy MacGregor, Don Lundquist, Coby Cowgill, and Ted Johnson) and the Gold (Marilyn Melendy, Merrie Jo Milner, Larry Leonardson and Leland Peterson).  Team members were allowed to dicuss a question before submitting an answer.

They alternated in taking the questions from the MC, Bentley Anderson, a credible Pat Sejak, Alex Trebek and Bob Barker all in
one.  Hans Thunander was the judge.  The Blue team was declared the winner but the prizes were impartially given?a year's supply of Lutefisk for each of the winning contestants, and two year's supply of Lutefisk for each of the losing contestants.  (Note, one year's supply for the whole team is exactly one fish! Varsågoda!!).

Marilyn Melendy announced the death of Olga Anderson, who with the late Norfolk Police Chief Harold Anderson was a charter member of our
Society.

In the Ted Johnson Sing-Along we sang from  the Swedish Songbook Nos 4,.Barnsdomshemmet, 24  Hör, hur västanvinden susar, 39 När jag är  tio år, and 32, Kostervalsen.  The  traditional conclusion was Hälsa dem  därhemma.

Diane Newlon then conducted the raffle, after which the place was set in order and the meeting adjourned to April 17, at which time as announced we will have a program on the late, highly acclaimed author of Swedish children's literature, Astrid Lindgren.

                                          Respectfully Submitted,
                                          Merrie Jo Milner,

Beverage Master Needs Help for May Meeting:
I will be unable to attend the May meeting of the Society (editor's note:the Scots clans are rising) and would appreciate it if someone would volunteer to bring the beverages to the May meeting.  All you will have to
do is put some ice in the coolers and bring them and the wine to the meeting and then carry back home with you.  I will bring the stocked coolers by your house before the meeting and pick them up the week
following the meeting at your convenience.
