Minutes of 22 February 01 Business Meeting

Members started arriving at 1730.  The atmosphere was relaxed, cheerful, and the Consolidated Club warm.  By 1800 the club manager had wings, egg rolls meatballs, and deserts all ready to eat. 1815 Ed Ard blessed the meal and added special prayers for all those that could not be with us, and those who were not feeling up to snuff.  24 members were in attendance for the meeting.

1847:  President Hobey Stearns called the meeting to order
1848:  Roll call of officers was dispensed with as all officers were present: President Hobey Stearns, Vice President Buddy Moore, Treasurer Dave Sterling, and Secretary Bill Gasperetti.
1850:  Will Walthen led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
1852:  Dennis Spain read the Preamble of the CW & WO Association.
1853:  A moment of silence was observed for all those who passed over the bar since last meeting.
1854:  Distinguished Members Harry Huggins, Matte Matterson, Buddy Huskey recognized.
1854:  Past Presidents Harry Huggins, Matte Matterson, Buddy Huskey  and Will Wathen recognized.
1858:  Members voted and agreed to dispense with the minutes of the last business meeting.
1900:  Treasurer reported a balance of $2129.26 in the checking account.
1910:  There were no committee reports as this meeting is to name new committee members for this year. 
 
The New Committees  For this year as follows:

Membership: Bill Gasperetti (Chair), Dan Tallman, and Jack Stalans who is also a new member currently on Active Duty stationed at the Navel Engineering Support Unit Portsmouth. 

Entertainment: Buddy Moore and Harry Huggins (Co-Chair) along with Ed Ard, Gordon Boyd, and Henry Domme.

Telephone:  Hobey Stearns (Chair), Will Walthen, Harry Huggins, and Buddy Moore. 

By-laws:  Hobey Stearns (Chair) and Ed Ard

Binnacle list:  In the past this has been a committee but after a rousing discussion it was decided that the Binnacle List committee is an ALL HANDS evolution.  If anyone knows of a member in need please contact Hobey Stearns or any Club Officer so that we can get the word out by way of the telephone committee and get flowers and cards sent out.

Old Business:  The New Chapter clocks have been purchased and are for sale for a cost of $20.00 each.  Get yours soon!!   

New Business:  Will Walthen stated that last years telephone committee had encountered some difficulties in contacting some members, The next time the phone committee calls they will be asking the following questions:
1. Do you want to removed from the phone tree?
2. Do you want to be called for Social Functions only?
3. Any other reason that you would prefer not to be contacted?

   Dick Coupe asked about the possibility of getting a tour aboard one of the local cutters.  Dan Tallman the MPA onboard the 270’ WMEC CGC BEAR Volunteered to give us the cooks tour 1300 Saturday March 17th.  For the Black Hull Crew we will try and make arrangements for a tour on the new 175’ WLM CGC FRANK DREW  in the early spring.  

Good of chapter:  Hobey read a letter from the CG Spouses Club thanking us for our donation to the CG Angel Fund.
    A lengthy discussion on the agenda for April’s National Meeting was held Hobey had a problem with the E-Mail attachment sent to him we are going to scramble and try and get another copy ASAP.  Depending on the due date for adding items we will be holding a special meeting for regular members date TBD.  An issue brought up by Matte Matterson was to allow for distinguished members to Vote on all issues at the National Meetings. 
    Harry Huggins read the chapter’s Nomination letter sent to National for their consideration of Will Walthen for Distinguished Membership.
    A reminder that 33 members still have not paid their 2001 dues.  Please mail or bring your $10.00 to the next meeting, I’m sure Dave will be more than willing to take your money.

Upcoming Events:  
Friday 16 March St Patrick Day Dinner ( See attached flyer)
April -  Exact Date TDB  Steak Out 
May 17th next business meeting.

2000:  Meeting adjourned

Winner of 50/50 raffle was George Cote. George Donated the ½ of his wind fall $34.00 ($17.00) back to the association.   Thank you George for being so generous.

On a parting note Matte Expressed his thanks for all the thoughts and support the club has provided in his recent loss.
